M. О, молодец!
N. I’ve just came back from school and I decided to show you my school uniform.
At my school we have to wear a blazer, as you see.
In our school they have to show the school logo.
Some girls could wear badges on their school blazer from their achievements. And we have to wear it during the school time.
In our school we also wear a blouse. It is like a shirt that man wear, but no top button and we do not have to wear tie with it.
At school we can wear trousers or skirts. It could be optional for girls, we can choose either.
We can wear blue or black tights and white socks.
We have to wear black shoes as well, as in all schools.
M. И куртка, если вы ее одеваете, должна быть черная или синяя.
N. And also with bags as well. That will be carrier bags.
M. Понятно… Во сколько у вас начинаются уроки, Наташа?
N. Well, we start school or we have to be there before ten to nine. At that time we get registered, so calling our names out for twenty minutes. Obviously it doesn’t take that long, we do things, go to assemblies during that time.
Our first lesson is at ten past nine. This is my first week for school. (У Наташи в школе 2 расписания, разных на каждую неделю, они меняют их по очереди – это примечание мамы). There is first lesson for an hour, then there is a break for fifteen minutes.
I then have two lessons after break, which last an hour each.
Lunch time is… where we for an hour… we can do… go to clubs, do our homework and have our lunch.
For lunch we can go to the dining hall, where we eat our food, a pay for the food we like the most, or some people have packed lunches and have what they would like, from home.
I am packed lunches.
M. You are not packed lunches, Natasha. You are a girl!
N. I have packed lunches!
After lunch time we have two lessons, which are an hour long, except from period five, which is an hour and five minutes.
Our school finishes at three thirty.
M. В общем, в среднем получается, каждый урок длится один час у вас, да?
N. Yes…
M. А в России 45 минут! И переменки у вас по 10 минут, а ланч – один час?
N. No… first break is for 15 minutes and lunch is for an hour.
M. А что вы делаете во время переменок?
N. Well, at break time we just go back to the form where we start the school, and we might have a little bit of the snack or get ready for the next 2 lessons.
M. К тому же у вас класс… чаще всего вы его называете FORM, нежели CLASS, хотя, в принципе, если называть class, то тоже понятно, тоже правильно?
N. Yeah.
M. То есть Form room – это классная комната.
N. Yeah.
M. У вас есть специальные шкафчики, где вы храните что-то? Что вы там оставляете в шкафчиках? Lockers, Наташа!
N. We do have lockers, but they are quite small, that big, where we keep, if we can, our coats, PE (Physical Education – физкультура) bags, spare books and some aprons for couple of our lessons, called Design and Technology, which I forgot to mention last video.
In Design and Technology we create things… So there is one subject… there are 3 classes…
One class is where we make wooden things, create them, like chairs, for example… or a games like this steady hand games. (Они, например, сделали конструкцию, где срабатывает электрический сигнал, если рука дрогнет и кольцо на палочке вокруг проволоки, коснется ее и замкнет цепь – примечание мамы.)
In another class where we make food for our parents… so scones – a traditional English meal or desert, we make apple crumble in Year 7, which is lovely.
And in the third and last class it is called Textiles. It is where we learn to sew, use the sewing machine. And create things like cushions, dresses – those sorts of things.
M. Bunting, флажки, гирлянды, флажки на гирлянде, помнишь?
N. Yeah, bad memories…
M. Почему?
N. I didn’t like it…
M. Почему? Сложно было сделать?
N. Yeah, I didn’t understand what I was doing… at that time.
M. Надо было спросить у учительницы!
N. Yes…
M. Что вы обычно кушаете на обед?
N. In the dining hall they sell fruits, if you would like some, hot meals, such as spaghetti bolognese, pizza, if you don’t like all the other things…
M. Салатики какие-нибудь?
N. Yes, they have salad, they have slightly different variations each day…
M. Булочки всякие, muffins?
N. Yes and they also sell sandwiches if you need to quickly go to a club at lunch time. They also sell deserts, such as cakes, cookies, brownies… this sort of things you like…
M. Waffles!
N. … and waffles. And drinks if you get thirsty.
M. Всем людям надо платить за обеды?
N. Everyone has to pay for their lunches. But if parents couldn’t afford and they’ve told the school, they will get free meals. In primary schools recently the Government have decided that the children from the first three years of primary school will get their food for free.
M. Повезло, нам пришлось платить… Сколько у вас человек в классе, Наташа?
N. In my class I have 30 pupils. But for the whole year we have 150 of us.
M. А в начальной школе у вас тоже было 30 человек в классе.
N. Yeah.
M. Еще был один вопрос про уроки по физкультуре. Что вы делаете на физкультуре?
N. Well, this year, when I was in Year 8, we have done netball, so we’ve developed our skills of passing the ball to each other and when we are playing how we could collect the ball and score.
M. У тебя значок “Netball”… Тебе его выдали, когда ты в команде была, да?
N. Yes…
M. Netball – это, своего рода, как баскетбол, что-то среднее между баскетболом и чем-то там еще.
N. Also we’ve done gymnastics, so jumping on those horses…
