Гибралтар – британская заморская территория. Крохотный пятачок размером около 7км2 на южном берегу Испании. Мал, да удал! Над всей территорией возвышается Скала. Да-да, именно так, с большой буквы: Скала Гибралтара.
В Скале за многие годы эксплуатации ее человеком пробито много туннелей – порядка 50 км, во время войны там хранились припасы и размещались военные. Теперь туда водят туристов и Наташа шутит, что уже видела свет в конце туннеля!
В верхней части Скалы живет много-много диких обезьян. Как утверждает местная молва, Гибралтар будет оставаться британским, пока не переведутся все живущие там обезьяны. Популяция постоянно увеличивается, потому надежда есть. Смотрите в сегодняшнем видео встречу Наташиных кадетов с обезьяньей семьёй.
Вместе с Наташей вы побываете в пещере святого Михаила, увидите ее красивейший интерьер, созданный матушкой Природой.
Кадеты посетили сафари парк, где произошла забавная история, о которой они вспоминают до сих пор. Одного мальчика укусила за палец зебра, потому что он кормил ее неправильно. Ничего страшного, но больницу пришлось посетить на всякий случай. Врачи были озадачены, заполняя форму на компьютере, описывающую инцидент. В форму пришлось добавлять строчку с названием животного – укус зебры был из разряда неожиданных.
Остаток пребывания на Гибралтаре все, включая самого кадета, изощрялись в шутках на эту тему, типа: “Ты теперь наполовину зебра!” – “Да, вот жду, когда у меня начнут появляться полосочки!” Новость о кадете, которого укусила зебра, быстро распространилась по всему Гибралтару и на обратном пути даже командир самолета упомянул парня в своей речи перед пассажирами.
Взлетно-посадочная полоса Гибралтара – уникальное зрелище. Построена она прямо в море, проходит параллельно границе с Испанией и прямо перпендикулярно пересекает главную магистраль, связывающую два государства. Т.е. при взлете и посадке самолетов автомобильную дорогу перекрывают шлагбаумами! Ничего себе!

Hello, friends! Natasha is here again.
I have been quite busy these summer holidays. One of the many places that I’ve visited has been Gibraltar.
I went with the air cadets to this wonderful and sunny country. Gibraltar is British owned but is joined on to the south of Spain.
It is the last point of Europe before you reach Africa. From Gibraltar, we were able to see Morocco, North Africa, very clearly, when we got the chance to see Europa Point.
While we were there, we were joking about how similar Gibraltar is to Britain apart from the weather. The weather was hot and no rain, which is completely different to our typical British weather.
Many activities kept us active while we were there for the week, from going to a water park to visiting the tunnels.
There was this particular cave called St Michael’s cave where we visited. This was an interesting cave because there were different colour lights reflecting over the different spaces in the cave.
Walking around, I was able to distinguish different spaces and associate them with mysterious objects. For example a gnome and some witches.
Another place we visited was a WW2 tunnel that was used to store many military personnel and objects.
This was an interesting walk through the past and how much hard work it was to build the 33 miles of tunnels inside the rock of Gibraltar. There we saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
One of the locals in Gibraltar was monkeys. There were monkeys on the rock that were just sitting there allowing passersby to take photos with them.
There was one small monkey that was climbing around while its parents sat there watching.
We went out into the Atlantic Ocean to see some dolphins. We were able to see many dolphins. We saw a family that stuck together; saw them swim under our boat; saw them jump out of the water to greet us.
It was a beautiful sighting, which I can say we all enjoyed on the camp.
One of the last days, we went into Spain to visit a safari park. The weather was beautiful and the animals were a pleasure to see. However, no one would ever forget this one event. That is one of the cadets was bitten by a Zebra.
The actual incident was not funny but everyone would comment saying it is something for him to tell his grandchildren one day, as not everybody can turn round and say a zebra has bitten them.
What made everything even funnier was on our plane journey back, the captain gave him a special mention and our zebra bitten cadet took a bow.
Finally, the runway in Gibraltar is one of the shortest in the world so there is a massive for aircrafts leaving and landing on Gibraltar.
If the plane does not land and stop in time then there is a possibility that it would fall into the sea at the other end. Taking off has the same problem.
Travelling over Gibraltar, Spain and France there was little to no clouds. However, the moment we hit British boarders we were covered in rain clouds and could not see outside our window. Typical British weather.
